About Me: I'm a bowler... and proud of it! I also work in the corporate world... in IT. I love it, but I hate it. I feel like I'm wasting my time there. Sad part is, you couldn't tell by the way I carry myself at work - I take ownership of everything I do, and take it to an extreme. I don't do well with idle time... gotta be busy.
Music: I like all sorts of music, but for the most part I have to admit I like the new stuff that's in the main stream and alternative - like Hinder, for example, is what's been running through my head lately. I like some (little) country, more oldies type stuff (beatles and beach boys anyone?) - wide variety works for me. I have way too many CD's.

    The blur of ownership

    Hey everyone,

It's been entirely too long since my last post - I'm sorry, my wife and I purchased a bowling alley last month and I've been swamped ever since.  This is our first center, and while there's many pressures and "things gone wrong" - I'm loving every bit of it... well... almost every bit of it... well, some of it... okay, a bunch of it I love, but there's a bunch I don't love - but you have to take the bad with the good, right?

I'm in a hotel in Reno now, preparing for my turn on the approaches at the National Bowling Stadium... we just came from the Greater Ozarks Open in Springfield, MO.... 3 days on the road seeing the country.  The weather has been nice, and the scenery fantastic.  I'm not sure why I can't sleep now... I should be out cold.  Speaking of cold - I've been fighting one for the last week... makes tournament rolling that much more interesting I think.  My ear won't quite pop yet... makes things kinda muffled on the one side... dang.

Anyway - I think I'll throw some Nyquil back and try to get some sleep.  None of that cheesy cherry crap for me... I like the green stuff.

One Practice = Two Decent Sets

Sunday, April 15, 2007, 10:21 AM [Tournament Chatter]

But not a third decent set.... nope, that's too much to ask for.

My tournament squad Saturday was a disappointment.  I couldn't manage to crack the 200 threshold, and what's worse, by the 3rd game I was completely lost... wound up shooting an even 500 series.  Whooaaa boy that sucked.  Never before have I felt like such a house bowler... this squad was in a different center - one I've bowled in before, mind you, just not recently.  I could tell the pattern was different, but couldn't seem to find a happy place to play.  Couple that in with my own inconsistencies, and I think we see why I couldn't muster a good set.

I did manage to convert the 3-4-6-7 though, to a round of uproarus applause from 4 lanes worth of bowlers and spectators... that felt nice.  It reminded me of how it feels to be a performer when I'm on the lanes... instead of just a tool that wants to crawl under a table and hide.

I really need to get on the lanes to practice more.

I agree with your friend. Practice practice practice...that and spares are key to the game. If you get those down you will, be unstoppable! Hinder? I saw them in concert! Good luck and good bowling!
